On January 20, 2026, the National Graduate College for Elite Engineers of Southeast University organized and held a seminar on the Measures for the Application and Granting of Master's Degrees for Elite Engineers of Southeast University. The seminar was presided over by Jin Shi, Vice President of Southeast University, Vice Chairman of the University Academic Degree Evaluation Committee and Chairman of the Sub-Committee for the Evaluation of Elite Engineers' Academic Degrees.

At the seminar, Cao Xianghui, Vice Dean of the National Graduate College for Elite Engineers, introduced the background of the reform of elite engineers' academic degree system based on the reform of elite engineer cultivation and the Education Accreditation Standards for Elite Engineers issued by the Ministry of Education. Focusing on the distinctive characteristics of the cultivation of master's students in elite engineering, he also reported in detail on the Measures for the Application and Granting of Master's Degrees for Elite Engineers.

After listening to the report, participating experts from the university and enterprises conducted in-depth discussions and comments on the scientificity, guidance and operability of the measures. The experts unanimously agreed that the measures constitute an important link in implementing the national strategy for cultivating elite engineers and are of great significance for improving the quality of master's engineering cultivation at the university. Meanwhile, the experts put forward optimization opinions and suggestions from different perspectives.

In his concluding remarks, Vice President Jin Shi emphasized that the cultivation of elite engineers is a key measure to serve the country's high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and self-improvement and drive industrial upgrading. He required the National Graduate College for Elite Engineers to carefully sort out and absorb the experts' opinions, and improve the content of the measures as soon as possible, so that it can better reflect the connotation of "excellence", conform more to the laws of talent cultivation and the reality of industrial development, thus providing a solid institutional guarantee for improving the quality of talent cultivation and cultivating a large number of elite engineers.
